Who Is Required to Get a Backflow Test in Phoenix?

As a general rule, backflow testing is required annually for restaurants, businesses, apartment buildings, condominiums, and some residential homes in Arizona. Any building with a backflow prevention system installed on the property is required to have it tested annually by a certified backflow professional.

All of our licensed testers are P.I.P.E. certified and we will make sure your backflow system meets Arizona state requirements.

Phoenix Backflow Testing Requirements for Homeowners

Annual backflow testing is not usually required for homeowners in Arizona, but there are certain cases where it is required. If your neighborhood receives reclaimed water for irrigation, your property likely has a backflow prevention device installed to protect the drinking water from contamination. In this case, you will need an annual backflow test.

Call 602-610-0873 to schedule your annual test with us today.

Backflow Testing - What to Expect

During a typical backflow test, one of our certified technicians will start by turning off the downstream shut-off valve on your backflow preventer device. Then, using specialty tools and test kit hoses, we will test the water pressure in the system to make sure that everything meets Arizona state requirements.

If everything looks good, your backflow prevention device will be marked as passing, and if it doesn’t pass, our technician will likely be able to repair it the same day, or schedule a repair for soon after that.

What Happens After Your Backflow Test?

If your backflow assembly passes the annual backflow certification requirements, our technician will complete the required paperwork and upload the results to our state-of-the-art backflow testing software. We will then send you an invoice via email though which you can pay by credit, debit or ACH transfer. Once your bill is paid, we will submit your test results to the proper municipal authority and your backflow system will be certified for another year.

If your backflow assembly doesn’t pass the annual certification requirements, we will either be able to make repairs during the same appointment (if time permits) or we will schedule a time to return to make the proper repairs. In either case, we will contact you in order to get your approval for the repair process. Learn more about our backflow repair service here.
